Old-Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler

🧑‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the melted butter into a 9×9-inch baking dish and set aside.

  2. Make the Batter
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until smooth.
Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter — do not stir.

  3. Prepare the Berries
In a separate bowl, toss blackberries with lemon juice and the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.

  4. Assemble
Spoon the berries evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir — the cobbler forms its own crust while baking.

  5. Bake
Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.

  6. Cool & Serve
    Let cool slightly before serving.

🍨 Serving Suggestions

  • Delicious with a drizzle of heavy cream or a dusting of powdered sugar

🌟 Tips & Variations

  • Frozen berries: Use straight from the freezer—no need to thaw

  • Extra flavor: Add ½ teaspoon cinnamon or vanilla to the batter

  • Mixed berry cobbler: Substitute half the blackberries with raspberries or blueberries
