  • Whole chicken (giblets removed): 3½–4½ pounds
  • Kosher salt: 2 tsp
  • Garlic powder (or ¾ tsp minced garlic cloves): 2 tsp
  • Black pepper: 1 tsp

  1. Remove the chicken from packaging.
