🍰 The Best Pound Cake Ever

(Rich, Moist, Buttery, and Classic)

đź›’ Ingredients (1 9Ă—5-inch loaf pan)

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs, room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional, but adds depth)

  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ÂĽ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed

Optional Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

🔪 Step 1: Prep Pan and Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease and flour a 9Ă—5-inch loaf pan, or line with parchment paper for easy removal.

  3. Optional: lightly dust with sugar for a slightly crunchy top.

🥄 Step 2: Cream Butter and Sugar

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter for 1–2 minutes until smooth.

  2. Gradually add sugar and beat for 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.

  3. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

🥚 Step 3: Add Eggs and Extracts

  1. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  2. Stir in vanilla and optional almond extract.

  3. Make sure the mixture is smooth and glossy.

🌾 Step 4: Combine Dry Ingredients

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with warm milk:

    • Add 1/3 dry ingredients, mix gently

    • Add ½ cup milk, mix

    • Repeat until all ingredients are incorporated

Tip: Avoid overmixing — overworked batter = dense cake.

🥄 Step 5: Pour Batter into Pan

  1. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

  2. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  3. Optional: sprinkle a little sugar on top for texture.

🔥 Step 6: Bake
